Vernon ‘Pete’ Bennett
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Vernon S. “Pete” Bennett, on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at the age of 86, at Niagara Falls Hospital, Ontario, Canada.
He was born Jan. 17, 1939, to Layton and Esther (Snyder) Bennett of Sinnamahoning, Pa. He was the last of their nine children.
He retired from Keystone Powdered Metal Plant in St Mary’s, Pa. He also enjoyed many years of performing with numerous bands, playing guitar and singing. After a stroke, he still was able to enjoy singing in various country jam sessions in Fort Myers, Fla., and the Fort Erie/Niagara region of Canada.
He was married to the late Doris Andregg. He is survived by his son, Benjamin (Candy) Bennett, grandsons, Shawn; Ryan (Andrea), their children, Aaron and Bella; and Kyle, and his son, Brodie. He also is survived by his daughter, Brenda (Thomas Brucker), and their children, Brianna (Maria) and Bryce. He was preceded in death by his son, Bryan.
Pete also married, in 2001, to Ursula V. He was stepdad to the late Andrea Stewart, Christian Stewart (Carolyn) and grandsons, Michael and Jason (Brittany).
He will be remembered for his humor and love of family.
We thank all the caregivers at Maple Park Lodge.
Cremation has occurred, and a Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, at St. Joseph Church Snyder, in Stevensville, Snyder, Ontario. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s cemetery.
A celebration of life will be held at St. Joseph’s hall after the 10 a.m. Mass and burial.
