Four Butler County clay shooters were part of a Beaver County team that finished second in the USA Clay Target National Championship on July 13.

Wes Scott (Moniteau), Monerey and Alana Geibel (Karns City) and Sam Sosack (Seneca Valley) competed for Blackhawk High School as part of a co-operative of 15 schools across multiple counties, according to the team. Blackhawk scored 493 points, one behind New York’s Beaver River Central High School, in the national champion held Mason, Mich.

The performance followed a second-place finish in the Pennsylvania State Championship, the team said. Head coach Ron Neff also said Alana Geibel won the female division at the state championships.
