Riding in a bucket of a traffic maintenance truck near the front of the Cranberry Night Out event on Aug. 2, 2005, was McGruff the Crime Dog, who was celebrating his 25th anniversary as a mascot against crime.
The event advocated against crime, drugs and violence, and was “an opportunity for the community to get together and enjoy their neighbors and meet new ones.”
The parade at the night out also honored Bill Sexton, who was posthumously named the Cranberry Township Citizen of the Year at the event after serving as the township’s captain of the fire police for 25 years.
