More hot weather expected Wednesday, heat risk indicated for Butler County
“Major” and “moderate” heat risks are projected Wednesday, July 30, for Butler County and surrounding areas, according to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh.
The heat risk in the center and southeastern parts of Butler County is labeled as “major,” indicating potential impact for everyone without hydration and cooling equipment.
The rest of the county is labeled as “moderate,” indicating risk for people sensitive to heat, especially those without hydration and cooling equipment.
Temperatures are expected to be highest between 2-5 p.m. and will hover around the upper-90s and lower-100s throughout the day.
The weather service also reports “major” heat risks almost consuming Allegheny, Armstrong and Washington counties.
Portions of downtown Pittsburgh are under an “extreme” heat risk, meaning longterm extreme heat with no overnight relief could affect anyone without cooling and hydration equipment.
A passing cold front will bring relief from the heat Thursday, the weather service said.
