Marion Laffey-Ferry

Retired Butler County attorney, Marion Laffey-Ferry, a resident of the Lakeridge Falls community in Manatee County, Fla., died Saturday, July 19, 2025, at the age of 84.

She was born in Pittsburgh on Jan. 22, 1941, the daughter of the late John J. and Marion C. Laffey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John F. Laffey; and sister, Alice L. Laffey. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Warren Ferry.

She was a 1985 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, where she was an editor of the Law Review. Prior to attending law school, she was a teacher of French and social studies in several Pittsburgh area school districts and a paralegal.

She was admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania; the U.S. District Court, Western District of Pennsylvania; and the Supreme Court of the United States.

She practiced law in Butler County from 1985 to 2015, confining her practice to family, real estate, wills and estates.

She served two terms as president of the Butler County Bar Association and two terms on the Region Four Disciplinary Committee. She as a former chair of the solo and small firm section of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and a life member of the Pennsylvania Bar Foundation. She was honored by the foundation with the Louis J. Goffman Award in 2006 and received the Chief Justice John P. Flaherty award from the Pennsylvania Bar Association in 2014. In that year, she also received the Women’s Bar Association of Western Pennsylvania Susan B. Anthony Award.

Following cremation, her remains will be transported to Butler.

LAFFEY-FERRY — Friends and relatives of Marion Laffey-Ferry, who died Saturday, July 19, 2025, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler.

A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 31, at All Saints Parish, St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 127 Franklin St., Butler, with Father John Baver officiating.
