Man, woman accused of motorcycle theft in Butler

A Butler man and woman are accused of stealing a motorcycle to pay for controlled substances on Thursday, July 24, in Butler, according to police.

Kelly Nicole Bowser, 41, was charged with felony conspiracy to commit theft and ungraded loitering and prowling; and Albert John Mastrocesare Jr., 41, was charged with one felony count each of theft, criminal conspiracy and receiving stolen property, and one count of misdemeanor loitering and prowling following the alleged incident.

Police said they were dispatched to the area of Eau Claire Street for reports of a stolen Kawasaki motorcycle valued at $4,000. The motorcycle reportedly went missing between 8:30 p.m. Wednesday and 11:15 a.m. Thursday.

Police viewed security cameras at a business across from the location of the alleged theft and saw an unidentified man and woman, later identified as Mastrocesare and Bowser, approaching the parked motorcycle. Police said Mastrocesare pushed the motorcycle and Bowser followed.

Police later received a tip about the motorcycle being parked in the grass behind an East Pearl Street residence. Police visited the residence and made contact with Bowser, who reportedly denied any knowledge of the motorcycle. Police transported Bowser and two other women in the residence to the police station for questioning.

One of the women reportedly told police that Bowser and another man were hanging out that night looking to purchase crack cocaine and both spoke about taking the motorcycle.

Police confirmed through interviews the man left the house to take the motorcycle and Bowser went with him because she “knew the area.”

Bowser’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11 a.m. Aug. 4 before District Judge William Fullerton. She’s being held in Butler County Prison on a $15,000 bond.

Mastrocesare’s preliminary hearing has not yet been scheduled.
