Harrisville police asked residents to lock their vehicles and watch for suspicious activity in a Monday, July 28, Facebook post due to an increase in vehicle-related thefts.

Police said an increase in vehicle thefts, and thefts from vehicles, has been reported in Harrisville, Marion Township and surrounding areas.

The Facebook post asks residents to lock their vehicles, even when parked in the driveway, remove all valuables from plain view and report any suspicious activity immediately.

“Local and regional law enforcement agencies are actively investigating these incidents and working collaboratively to identify those responsible,” said Lt. Jordan Waclav in the post.

Further attempts to reach Waclav on Tuesday were unsuccessful.
