Scooter rider critically injured in collision with vehicle in Butler Township
A man is reported as having suffered critical injuries after being struck by another vehicle while crossing the street on his scooter on Tuesday afternoon, July 29.
The incident occurred at the corner of North Main Street Extension and Armstrong Place in Butler Township, near the Armstrong corporate office.
According to Butler Township Police patrolman Jeffrey Lewis, an unidentified man “in his 40s” was attempting to cross Main Street on his scooter when he was struck by a vehicle which was driven by a sole female occupant.
“The scooter passed in front of the car as the car merged onto Route 8,” Lewis said.
Lewis reported the scooter operator’s injuries as “critical.” A STAT MedEvac helicopter took the injured man to UPMC Presbyterian.
In addition to the Butler Township Police, the Butler City and Butler Township volunteer fire departments and Butler Ambulance Service responded to the scene.
