Ann Moniot
Ann Marie Moniot, 70, of Portersville, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 27, 2025, after a long journey with dementia. While the disease slowly took pieces from her, it never touched her deep love for her family or her instinct to take care of others.
Born in Chelsea, Mass., on Sept. 14, 1954, Ann grew up with a strong sense of independence and responsibility. She graduated with honors from North Reading High School and, at 18, enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. From 1972 to 1976, she served proudly, first with the 4645th Air Defense Squadron (NORAD) in Duluth, Minn., and later with the 621st Tactical Radar Unit in Wiesbaden, Germany. She was honorably discharged as a sergeant.
In 1977, Ann married Ken Moniot and moved to Portersville, where they ran the Moniot family dairy farm and raised their children. Ann was at the heart of the operation — managing the daily work of the farm, keeping things running smoothly and never afraid of getting her hands dirty. She brought a practical, no-fuss attitude to every task and was the kind of person people could count on.
She also gave her time generously to others — volunteering through Christian Mothers with St. Pete Catholic Church in Slippery Rock, helping neighbors when they needed a hand, and caring for her mother-in-law, Dorothy, at the end of her life. Ann had a quiet strength, a steady presence and a deep sense of duty to her family, community and faith.
Ann is survived by her husband of 48 years, Ken Moniot of Portersville; son, Robert K. (Lisa) Moniot of Portersville; daughter, Stacy Ann (Joe) Nist of Cranberry Township; sister, Linda (James) McCullough of Tewksbury, Pa.; two brothers, John (Diana) Carter of Chelsa, Mass., and Robert (Deborah) Carter of Londonderry, N.H.; two grandchildren, Emmy and Tommy Nist; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Don and Rick Carter.
Ann’s family would like to give special thanks to the groups that helped her most in the last year: LIFE Butler County, Northview Estates Nursing Facility and Gentiva Hospice.
Ann lived a life of service, strength and love.
She will be remembered for her loyalty, her work ethic and the way she showed up — for her family, her country and anyone who needed her. May she find peace, and may her memory continue to guide and comfort those who loved her.
