Man injured in Saturday motorcycle crash in stable condition
A man whose motorcycle crashed into a creek Saturday, July 26, during Butler County’s 14th annual Ride for the Cure fundraiser is in stable condition at Allegheny General Hospital, according to a hospital spokesperson.
Douglas B. Campbell Jr., 69, of Butler, was reported to be in stable condition around 3 p.m. Monday, according to Bill Toland, director of public relations at Highmark Health and Allegheny Health Network.
Campbell was airlifted to the hospital with suspected serious injuries following the crash, reported at 1:05 p.m. Saturday near 2678 Oneida Valley Road in Washington Township.
Passenger Betty E. Campbell, 66, of Butler, died after the crash, according to a state police report.
The motorcycle had crossed the center line, struck a guardrail and continued down an embankment into a creek, according to police.
The ride was called off once the crash happened, and many of the people on the route returned to American Legion Post 778 in Butler Township, which was also the end point of the event.
