Passenger dead, motorcyclist taken to hospital following Saturday crash during Riding for the Cure

A woman died and a man was taken to the hospital by a medical helicopter after the motorcycle they were aboard crashed into a creek along Oneida Valley Road during Saturday’s Riding for the Cure event.

The passenger of a motorcycle died at the scene of the Saturday afternoon crash, while the driver was taken to the hospital for his injuries.

The crash was reported shortly after 1 p.m. near 2678 Oneida Valley Road in Washington Township.

Butler County dispatch initially called the Water Rescue Team 300 to respond to the incident, although the unit was canceled when the caller said they heard a voice yelling for help.

Butler County Coroner William Young III confirmed Saturday he was called to the scene. State police, Eau Claire Fire Department, West Sunbury Volunteer Fire Department, North Washington VFD and Karns City Regional Ambulance Service also responded to the crash.

Saturday was the 14th annual Riding For The Cure motorcycle run, which raises money to help area cancer patients not just with paying for treatment, but for paying for the rest of their needs while surviving the disease.
