PSU extension hosting agricultural drone use workshop
Penn State’s Butler extension is using a workshop to highlight how drones are being used for seeding cover crops, improving soil health and other new agriculture practices.
The extension’s workshop, “Cover Cropping with Drones: Tools, Tech, and Techniques,” is being held 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Aug. 26 for agriculture professionals and others interested. It will be held at Thiele Dairy Farm, located at 753 N. Pike Road in Cabot.
The extension said in a news release the workshop is meant for agronomic crop farmers, landowners, agricultural service providers, conservation professionals, agriculture teachers, drone operators, no-till practitioners and those exploring reduced tillage.
According to the release, participants “will learn no-till fundamentals, available support programs and practical considerations for using drone technology in real-world conditions.”
