Danny Craig
Danny L. “Big Dan” Craig, 76, of Chicora, a retired Chicora business owner and Vietnam veteran, passed away early Tuesday morning, July 22, 2025, at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Danny was born in Butler on July 22, 1949. He was the son of Richard L. “Dick” Craig Sr. of Chicora and the late Elizabeth “Betty” Barnhart Craig.
He was a 1967 graduate of Karns City Area High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving with the 1st Calvary Division of the 3rd Corps Air Mobile stationed in South Vietnam. Danny had earned the rank of sergeant and was the recipient of several distinguished service medals.
In his earlier years, he had been employed by Wise Machine in Butler and was later the well-known owner and operator of Dan’s Auto Body, Dan’s Car Wash and Dan’s Video, all in Chicora. He was a lifetime member of the Chicora Fire Department and had served the department as president and as a member of the fire police unit.
In addition to his father, Danny is survived by two sons, Mike Craig and Bradley Craig and his wife, Michelle; his grandchildren, Wyatt and Carly Craig; three brothers, Richard Craig Jr., Charles Craig and his wife, Susan, and Scott Craig and his wife, Sherri, all of Chicora; as well as a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his children’s mother, Gayle Overbo Craig; a sister-in-law, Rita Craig; as well as his paternal and maternal grandparents.

CRAIG — Private funeral arrangements for Danny L. “Big Dan” Craig, who died Tuesday, July 22, 2025, are under the direction of HILE FUNERAL HOME OF CHICORA.
Interment will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Chicora.
Memorial contributions in Mr. Craig’s name may be made to the Chicora Fire Department, P.O. Box F, Chicora, PA 16025.
