Butler loses PA Little League State Tournament opener to Pennridge, falls to consolation bracket
Butler Youth Baseball’s 12U team lost the opener of the Pennsylvania Little League State Tournament and will now try to play its way back to the championship games via the consolation bracket.
Pennridge won Monday’s opener at Fairchance Little League 4-3 and heads to Tuesday’s semifinals. Butler will play 10 a.m. Tuesday in a consolation game against Section 4 champion Hollidaysburg, which lost its opener 2-1 to Abington.
Liam McKindley had two hits and two RBIs for Butler in this one, while Graham Hohn went 1-for-1 with an RBI, according to head coach Shawn Manning. Sage Seezox and Carter Knapik also had a pair of hits.
Blaze Collins tossed 3.2 innings, striking out two while walking one. Seezox threw 1.1 innings with a strikeout and walk.
Butler is in its first state tournament since 2006.
The tournament is double-elimination. The state champion will play in a Little League regional tournament for the chance to compete in the Little League World Series.
