Roadwork on I-79 in Cranberry delayed a week due to weather

Due to forecasts of inclement weather on both days, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has announced that the cross pipe replacement planned for Interstate 79 running through Cranberry Township will be pushed back by one week.

Originally scheduled for Saturday, July 18 at 8 p.m. through Sunday, July 19 at 4 p.m., the work will now take place July 25 at 8 p.m. through July 26 at 4 p.m. The work will affect only the southbound lane. Traffic for Exits 77 and 78 will stay in the right travel lane, while all other traffic will stay in the left lane and stay on the interstate.

Additional work will take place from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. weekdays with a lane closure in each direction for guardrail and sign replacement and joint repairs, and from 8 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday for concrete patching, cross pipe repair and repaving of the northbound lane.

The work will extend from Exit 77 to a half-mile past Exit 78 in the northbound lane, and from Exit 77 and the weigh station in the southbound lane.
