Butler native takes job in cyber defense operations
Jason A. Troup, of Butler, will retire from the U.S. Air Force as a staff sergeant at the end of July, and has accepted a government contractor position with the Joint Warfare Analysis Center in Dahlgren, Va.
The 2004 Knoch High School graduate began his service in 2005 after waiting a year on the delayed entry program. His career in cyber defense operations began with his initial assignment as a telephone systems apprentice at Kadena Air Base in Okinawa, Japan. He moved to Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland in 2008.
Troup deployed to Afghanistan in 2009 and 2010 to support Operation Enduring Freedom. In 2015, Troup moved to the Joint Warfare Analysis Center, where he served as cyber control manager. From 2019 to 2022, he was in cyber transport at the 20th Intelligence Squadron in Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska, before returning to Dahlgren in 2022. He received numerous awards and decorations during his service.
