State environmental protection grants used for alternative fuel vehicles

A Butler County business will be able to purchase six new waste vehicles that run on renewable natural gas with money from a Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection grant.

The DEP awarded millions of dollars through its alternative fuel incentive grant program to help communities across the state purchase alternative fuel vehicles, build out alternative fuel infrastructure, cut costs and improve air quality.

In Butler County, Vogel Disposal Service, Inc., based out of Adams Township, will use $120,000 to purchase the six new waste disposal vehicles.

The full grant funding totaled $3.47 million toward 27 recipients.
