Trump says he’s ‘satisfied’ with Butler County shooting investigations

President Donald Trump is “satisfied” with investigations of the attempt on his life in Butler County on July 13, 2024, he said in an interview with Fox News published Saturday evening, July 12.

Trump said while there were multiple errors in the Secret Service’s overseeing of the event, from lack of proper communication with local police to careless handling of the building where the gunman eventually shot from, he is generally content with the findings of the investigation.

Trump said the Secret Service is a capable unit that had a rough day on July 13, 2024.

“I have great confidence in these people,” Trump said. “They had a bad day, and I think they’ll admit that.”

Trump said the day of the rally was unforgettable for him.

“I didn’t know exactly what was going on,” Trump said. “I got whacked. There’s no question about that.”

Trump also noted that others were injured and mentioned Corey Comperatore, who was shot and killed at the rally, calling him a “great guy.”

He continued, saying some of the potential damage from the act of violence at the rally was mitigated by a quick reaction from the countersnipers.

“Our sniper within less than five seconds was able to get him from a long distance with one shot. If he didn’t do that, we would have had an even worse situation,” Trump said. “It’s a very dangerous job being president.”
