PEMA: Statewide 911 systems back online
Butler County Emergency Services announced its 911 system was operational just after 10 p.m. Friday, July 11, after experiencing outages since around 2 p.m.
The outages affected all 911 centers connected to Pennsylvania’s Next-Generation911 system, preventing calls from getting to dispatchers over emergency lines. People with emergencies were encouraged to call their 911 center’s local phone number, and some fire stations posted their own phone numbers to Facebook.
The Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency said the outage was reported around 2 p.m. Friday as calls to the Delaware County 911 center failed. It said teams are still investigating the cause despite systems being back online in a July 12 press release.
