Government must protect borders, citizens
In her letter, (“Immigration enforcement has gone too far,” July 6, Page A4) Louise D. Tanner stated “the lead article in the Butler Eagle on July 1, ‘Sheriff wants to work with ICE,’ made me sick.” Reading that caused me to wonder: Did it make her sick when Laken Riley, a 22 year-old Augusta University nursing student who was out for her morning jog, later was found brutally murdered? Jose Antonio Ibarra, here illegally, was found guilty of all charges.
Did it make her sick when Rachel Morin, a 37-year-old Maryland mother of five, was brutally raped and murdered and stuffed in a drainage culvert? Victor Martinez-Hernandez, here illegally, was found guilty of all charges.
Did it make her sick when Jocelyn Nungaray, a 12-year-old Texas girl, was raped and murdered by strangulation and left in a creek? Johan Jose Martinez Rangel and Franklin Jose Pena Ramos, both here illegally, have been charged.
For four years, the Biden administration allowed millions to stream into our country, while all the time claiming our border was closed. That makes me sick.
I am glad that we finally have an administration willing to protect our border and legal citizens so that there is less chance of another Laken, Rachel or Jocelyn.
I believe that it will take years to fix the mess created over the past four years. And that should make everyone sick.
