Elisabeth Petraszko

Petraszko

Elisabeth Hauner Petraszko, 99, of Butler, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, in the Highfield home where she had lived for the past 70 years.

She was born in Regensburg, Bavaria, Germany, on June 27, 1926, to Josef Hauner and Anna Jobst Hauner, and she worked on their large family farm throughout her youth.

Elisabeth married Semen “Sam” Petraszko, of Ukraine, in August 1949, and together they immigrated to the United States in November of that same year, sponsored by St. Michael Ukrainian Catholic Church and Butler resident John Napora.

Elisabeth worked many years as a private housekeeper for several Butler families, many of whom became longtime friends.

In earlier years, Elisabeth was a member of Highfield Women’s Club and her church bowling league, and she enjoyed Saturday night dances at Highfield Hall with her husband, Sam. She was a skilled homemaker, especially in sewing and making traditional German and Ukrainian foods.

Elisabeth remained a devout member of St. Michael the Archangel Ukrainian Catholic Church, Lyndora, throughout her life. She was a beloved wife to her husband of 38 years, mother to her children, and Oma to her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by her family.

She will be cherished in memory by her daughter, Karen Kaylor of Chicora; her son, Michael Petraszko and his wife, Angelina, of Saline, Mich.; three grandchildren, Lisa Kaylor, Andrew Petraszko and Alexandra Petraszko; one stepgrandson, Richard Kaylor; and great-grandchildren, Lincoln and Lillian Richards; as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Regensburg, Germany.

In addition to her parents, Josef and Anna Hauner, Elisabeth was preceded in death by her dear husband, Sam, in 1987; siblings, Anna, Josef and Max; and son-in-law, Terry Kaylor.

PETRASZKO — Friends of Elisabeth Hauner Petraszko, who died Tuesday, July 8, 2025, will be received from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 11, at St. Michael the Archangel Ukrainian Catholic Church, 610 Hansen Ave., Lyndora.

A funeral Liturgy and Parastas service will immediately follow at 10:30 a.m. at the church, with the Rev. Radko Blichar officiating.

Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to St. Michael the Archangel Ukrainian Catholic Church, 610 Hansen Ave., Lyndora, PA 16045, would be greatly appreciated.

Arrangements were entrusted to MARTIN FUNERAL HOME, DOWNTOWN, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.
