Seneca Valley receives grant for elementary, middle school robotics

A $30,000 grant awarded to the Seneca Valley Foundation will help support the elementary and middle school’s after-school robotics clubs.

The district said in a news release its students have the opportunity utilize “creativity, innovation & research spaces” at Haine, Rowan, Ehrman Crest and Connoquenessing Valley elementary schools to learn fundamental skills in basic coding, engineering, programming, communication and graphic design.

The schools’ robotics clubs were introduced several years ago to build on this foundation.

The grant is from the Arconic Foundation, which partners with community organizations to create skill-building learning around STEM.

“Their support will have a lasting impact, giving our students even greater opportunities to explore, learn and excel in the field of robotics,” Sean McCarty, deputy superintendent for secondary education, said in the news release.
