McCaskey

Nancy L. Watson McCaskey, 94, of New Castle, passed away the morning of Thursday, July 3, 2025, at Jameson Nursing and Rehab.

Born Oct. 17, 1930, in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Ruth (Lytle) Watson.

On June 1, 1950, she married her beloved husband, Charles Shaw McCaskey Jr., who preceded her in death on Feb. 22, 2001.

Nancy was a graduate of Shenango High School, Class of 1948, and she attended Jameson School of Nursing. She had a satisfying career working as an LPN for over 50 years at Overlook Medical Clinic, where she was able to fulfill her passion and calling of being a caregiver. She enjoyed all sports, especially college basketball, and was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates fan. Spending time with her family is what Nancy treasured most in life. She was an original member of Grace Bible Church, where she played the piano for several years.

Survivors include her four sons, Charles (Sharyn) McCaskey of New Wilmington, Doug McCaskey of New Castle, Michael McCaskey of New Castle and Ted (Nancy) McCaskey of Slippery Rock; one daughter, Susan (James) Backstrom of Butler; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Nancy was preceded in death by one daughter-in-law, Lisa McCaskey; and a brother, Theodore Watson.

MCCASKEY — Visitation for Nancy L. Watson McCaskey, who died Thursday, July 3, 2025, will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, July 10, at R. CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.

A funeral service will take place immediately following visitation at 6 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor John Coomber officiating.

Burial will be alongside her husband at Graceland Cemetery.
