Butler Township to off-load excess equipment, vehicles
BUTLER TWP — To get rid of some excess equipment and vehicles, township commissioners voted to put a few items up for auction over the next month.
The items up for auction this year include two pickup trucks, one Ford Interceptor, a generator and a John Deere loader.
Commissioners said, while the bidding period is open, anyone interested can call the township to learn more about the items. The items up for bid will be available to view at the township’s public works building.
Commissioners Jim Lokhaiser, Sam Zurzolo, David Rice and Ed Natali voted at the Monday, July 7, meeting to authorize the advertisement of the auctioning of the items. Commissioner Joseph Wiest was not present at the meeting.
Township manager Tom Knights said putting excess equipment and vehicles up for auction is an annual occurrence and serves as one of the ways the township off-loads them.
“We’re going to do a final look to make sure we don’t have anything else that could be put out,” Knights told the commissioners.
Commissioners are expected to open bids on the items at their scheduled meeting on Aug. 18.
The next Butler Township Board of Commissioners meeting is set for Monday, July 21.
