A 33-year-old Butler man is accused of sexually abusing a 15-year-old girl in two instances in May, police said.

Nathan D. Cornetti, was charged Monday, July 7, with one felony count each of rape, statutory sexual assault, sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault, child pornography possession, corruption of minors, videotaping sexual acts with a minor and dissemination of video of a sexual acts with a minor; and one misdemeanor count each of indecent assault, terroristic threats, furnishing liquor to a minor and unlawful dissemination of an intimate image following the alleged incidents in early May.

Butler city police said they were notified May 23 by Butler Township police of a sexual assault that occurred within city limits.

After interviewing the girl, police said Cornetti and the girl began communicating when the girl’s mother took her to Cornetti’s home at Cliffside Apartments. Cornetti reportedly asked how old the girl was at their first meeting.

Police said Cornetti attempted to initiate intercourse the next couple of times she visited his home, and Cornetti eventually began contacting the girl more often.

Cornetti visited the girl’s home May 6 and reportedly took her to buy lunch and enticed her to go on the trip with marijuana. Police said the two went to Cornetti’s home after lunch and began watching a movie.

Police said Cornetti began touching the girl and she protested. The girl reportedly told police she was afraid Cornetti would beat her if she did not agree to sex because he is much stronger than her and claimed to have guns, and she believed Cornetti would catch her if she tried to escape.

The girl told police the two had intercourse twice that day, while Cornetti provided her with marijuana and alcohol. Cornetti reportedly told the girl he would kill her if she told anyone about the intercourse, according to police.

Police said Cornetti first had intercourse with the girl despite her objection while they were watching a movie. The two reportedly went to get more marijuana and alcohol after the incident was over.

Police said Cornetti had intercourse with the girl the second time and fell asleep after. The girl then called her mom to pick her up.

Police said Cornetti filmed both incidents. The girl told police Cornetti got mad at her mom a few days later and reportedly sent the videos to the girl’s boyfriend to get back at her mother.

Police found four videos and two photographs on Cornetti’s cellphone with both their faces and Cornetti’s tattoos visible.

Cornetti’s preliminary hearing before District Judge William Fullerton is yet to be scheduled. He’s being held in SCI Mercer.
