Vitalant having blood drives in Butler County

Somewhere in the U.S. a patient needs blood every two seconds. Vitalant is calling on eligible donors to do their part to help steer clear of a summer blood shortage. One lucky donor who gives blood Wednesday through Thursday, July 31, will win a car.

Donations from donors of all blood types help patients. Type O and platelet donors are especially needed, according to a news release from Vitalant. Type O can help patients of most blood types, and platelets help stop bleeding and must be used within a week of donation.

There will be a blood drive from noon to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, July 10, at Butler Eagle, 514 W. Wayne St. in Butler; and from 2 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, at 340 Clay Avenue, Mars.

View eligibility requirements and make an appointment at vitalant.org, download and use the Vitalant app, or call 877-258-4825.
