Cleveland man accused of stealing over $7K from Cranberry Twp. Home Depot

An Ohio man is accused of stealing more than $7,000 in merchandise from Home Depot in Cranberry Township.

Stephen Allan Bailey, 33, of Cleveland, was charged with one felony count each of retail theft, conspiracy to commit retail theft and receiving stolen property, and misdemeanor controlled substance possession following a Tuesday, July 1, incident.

Cranberry Township police said they received a call from a Home Depot asset protection agent about a retail theft in Ohio Township, Allegheny County. Asset protection advised that Bailey was one of the people involved and was traveling to the Cranberry Township Home Depot.

Police located Bailey’s vehicle at a Cranberry Township hotel and viewed several Home Depot totes in the vehicle. A few minutes later, police saw Bailey, a woman and a juvenile exit the hotel with luggage and more Home Depot storage totes with Home Depot merchandise inside.

Police said Bailey also had a small bag of suspected crack cocaine.

Police said the woman with Bailey admitted she had been to the Cranberry Township Home Depot over the previous few days, but she was not charged. Home Depot confirmed the two visited the Cranberry Township location on June 28 and 29 where they reportedly stole 36 items valued at $7,970.

Bailey’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. July 18 before District Judge Kevin Flaherty. He’s being held in Butler County Prison on a $50,000 bond.
