Joan Marie Lappe, 78, of Lorain, Ohio, formerly of Cranberry Township, passed away peacefully Friday, June 27, 2025, after a lengthy illness.

She was born Oct. 4, 1946, in Pittsburgh, to the late John and Marie (née Dlacich) Zaha.

Joan is survived by her son, Bernard John Lappe (Monica); two grandchildren; and her sister, Deborah (John) Vermillion, and their three sons, Chad, John Jr. and Josh Vermillion.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Kathleen Tuite.

Joan was a member of the Cranberry Township Elks Lodge No. 2249 and was devoted to her Catholic faith, attending mass regularly. She had a passion for life, enjoying playing golf and tennis in her younger years; and had remarkable artist skills, creating many beautiful still art creations throughout her life.

Joan dedicated many years of her professional life to serving as an administrative assistant for the state of Pennsylvania, followed by a similar role at Aetna Insurance, from which she later retired.

She leaves behind a legacy of caring for others throughout her life and will be missed by those closest to her.

LAPPE — A Mass of Christian burial for Joan Marie Lappe, who died Friday, June 27, 2025, will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 Saint Joseph Drive, Amherst, Ohio. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
