Gayle Beers
Gayle Elizabeth Beers, of Callery borough, died at home Friday, June 27, 2025, her beloved dog Mugsie by her side. Born Gayle Elizabeth Warren on May 13, 1938, in Cornelia, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Bonnie Lee and Annie Ruth Warren.
Gayle was a longtime resident of Callery and member of Crestview Community Church. She married Charles (Chuck) Leroy Beers on Sept. 30, 1955, and they were married for more than 64 years, until his death in 2019. She worked in the filter division at Mine Safety Appliances (MSA) from 1966 to 1995. After her retirement, she worked part-time at Walmart for six years, often coming home with colorful stories about the customers who frequented the store during her night shift.
She spent some of her leisure time fishing with Chuck at Moraine State Park and enjoyed regular trips to The Meadows with her sister. She was never one to be idle and had a wide range of interests. She was an avid reader; a prolific baker known for her cinnamon rolls, cakes and ‘pink pie’; a creative knitter who gave away her colorful quilts; a gardener who planted all types of flowers; and a dog lover, watching TV at bedtime with Mugsie, who she referred to as “her buddy.” She was also a serious 500 Rummy card player and enjoyed playing weekly with her son, who said, “Mom went out a winner, with our final count being 12 games to 10.”
She is survived by her son, Stephen A. (Lisa) Beers of Connoquenessing Township; her daughter, Pamela A. (Dan) Scott of Ellwood City; two grandchildren, Charlie Beers and Laura Hoffman; five great-grandchildren, Aiden, Lucas, Karson, Paisley and Alex; two younger sisters, Marge Leisie of Cranberry Township and Dana Beers of Callery borough; and numerous nieces and nephews.
