Butler’s CJ Singleton, Knoch’s Evie Bliss earn NCAA Division I track All-American honors
A pair of former Butler County track and field standouts closed out the NCAA season with Division I All-American honors after nearly making the podium at the national championships.
Former Butler distance runner CJ Singleton (Notre Dame) finished ninth in the men’s 3,000-meter steeplechase in 8:28.93, a season-best. That earned him a Second Team All-American nod.
For the second year in a row, former Union/A-C Valley thrower Evie Bliss (Bucknell) was named Second Team All-American as well. She finished 12th in the javelin with a throw of 180 feet, 9 inches at the national championships. She’s the second Bison ever to be a two-time All-American.
Both qualified for the USA Track and Field Championships, which will be held July 31-Aug. 3 in Eugene, Or.
