Butler County's great daily newspaper

Heat advisory lasts through Friday

Butler is placed under a heat advisory until 8 p.m. Friday, June 27, according to the National Weather Service.

The weather service said in a bulletin an extreme heat warning for counties in Western Pennsylvania had been canceled, and that Butler and surrounding counties are under the advisory through the end of the week.

However, the bulletin said heat index values in the region could still peak around 100, particularly from noon to 6 p.m. on Thursday and Friday. It also said impacts from the weather, like hot temperatures and high humidity could still cause heat illnesses.

“Storms during the day may temporarily alleviate heat is some areas, but most areas will see some impacts,” the bulletin read.
