Central Electric Cooperative asks customers to conserve power
Central Electric Cooperative issued another statement Wednesday, June 25, asking customers to conserve power during peak hours of the week’s heatwave.
Central Electric Cooperative is asking customers to conserve power between peak hours of 1-7 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, as summer’s first heat wave continues to swelter Butler County.
The company asked customers raise their thermostats and turn off non-essential electric items to avoid peak energy costs during high-demand periods. It suggested shifting the use of dehumidifiers, for instance, outside peak hours, and deferring chores that require electricity.
“By decreasing electricity used during high-demand periods — when prices are at their highest — everyone can help stabilize future power costs for all members,” the release said.
It said small adjustments in where, when and how electricity is used during peak hours make a difference in energy costs.
