Alaina Young

Young

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Alaina Marie Young, 41, a beloved member of her family and community, who left us unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at her home in Sandy Springs, Ga. Alaina’s intellect, loving personality, warmth, kindness, and unwavering dedication to the practice of law enriched the lives of everyone she touched.

Born on March 27, 1984, in Butler, to parents, Robert H. Young of Canonsburg, Pa. and Susan M. Young (deceased, March 28, 2022), Alaina spent her life exemplifying compassion, resilience and generosity. After graduating from Butler Area High School in Butler in 2002, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in English from Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pa. in 2006, before attending Duquesne Law School in Pittsburgh. She graduated from Duquesne in 2009 with a Juris Doctor in Law, promptly passing the Pennsylvania Bar Exam, and initially working as an associate attorney for Dillon McCandless King Coulter & Graham, LLP in Cranberry Township.

In 2014, she moved to the Atlanta area, where she worked for several law firms and corporations as an associate attorney or in-house counsel. She began a new position as a corporate real estate attorney at Waffle House Inc. in Norcross, Ga., in February 2024, where she was employed until her death. Her dedication to her work as an attorney left an indelible mark on many of her fellow associates, no matter what position within the company. Her laughter was a source of joy, her wisdom a beacon of guidance, and her love a foundation for those fortunate enough to know her well.

Alaina also had a tremendous talent for music, mastering both clarinet and piano in high school, while also developing her vocal capabilities to include singing in church, for her high school’s marching band, and at a Pittsburgh Pirates game in the summer of 2001. She marched in multiple parades with the band, including the Rose Parade on Jan. 1, 2000, and played first chair clarinet in symphony band.

Alaina was a cherished daughter to Robert and Susan, sister to Daniel R. Young (Chelsea) of Wheeling, W.Va., and Bryant J. Young (Kristin) of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and friend to all she knew. She is survived by her father and brothers, five aunts, one nephew and one niece, who will forever hold her memory dear. Her legacy of love and perseverance will live on in her family and her friends, as well as the legal community.

Since Alaina passed in Atlanta, services were private and handled by Greener Pastures Funeral Home, 4405 Marietta St., Powder Springs, Ga.

Remembrances and sympathy cards may be mailed to Bryant J. Young, 349 Highfield Loop, Myrtle Beach, SC 29579.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a local humane society or animal shelter, reflecting Alaina’s passion for her dogs, Bulleit and Rosie, both rescued pit bulls.

Though Alaina has departed from this world at too young an age, her spirit and the beautiful memories she created will remain in the hearts of all who loved her. May she rest in eternal heaven with her mother and grandparents.
