John Spicer
John Calvin “Rebel” Spicer, 87, formerly of Cranberry Township, passed away Friday, June 20, 2025, while under the care of St. John Specialty Care Center.
Born Oct. 4, 1937, in Bonnyman, Ky., he was the son of the late Earnest and Lillian White Spicer.
John was employed by Cast Con Stone and worked as a cement mixer for 55 years. In his free time, John enjoyed hunting deer and turkey, fishing, gardening and bird-watching. He also enjoyed welding and listening to country music. He was an avid NASCAR fan, especially of Dale Earnhardt. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his children, Debbie (Charlie) Istik of Freedom, Greg (Virginia Flask) Spicer of Freedom, Jeff (Dana) Spicer of Harmony, Terri (David) Nesbitt of Harmony, and Kat and Mike Syppko of Renfrew; his grandchildren, Shannon Petsch, Daniel (Deanna), Gregory, Steven, Ryan, Chelsy, Brett, Caitlyn and Alexa and Nick Glasso; his son-in-law, Robert Adkins; his great-grandchildren, Marshall, Kinley and Parker John; his sisters, Mary Campbell and Jimmy Jo Nicolazzo; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his loving wife, Gretta L. Spicer; his grandfather, G.W. White; his stepfather, Edward Kalish; his son, John Randolph Poole Spicer; and his sister, Elizabeth Hieber.
SPICER — Friends and family of John Calvin “Rebel” Spicer, who died Friday, June 20, 2025, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, at BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, at the funeral home.
John will be laid to rest at West Union Cemetery.
