Raymond Nalepa

Nalepa

Raymond H. Nalepa, 87, of Gibsonia, formerly of Chicora and Valencia, passed on Thursday, June 19, 2025.

Born in Pittsburgh on Sept. 5, 1937, and raised in Lawrenceville, he was the son of the late Henry Nalepa and Helen Cadach Nalepa.

A U.S. Navy veteran, Ray served on the USS Lake Champlain and on embassy duty in London, England. He worked as a distributor for Voortman Cookies and Hostess Cake/Braun Baking. Ray was always the one to make family and friends laugh with his quick wit and jokes. He loved his horses, especially riding and traveling to watch horse shows and horse racing. Ray also enjoyed visiting various casinos.

Ray was the beloved husband of Gail Schumacher Nalepa, whom he married in 1999; and was predeceased by his first wife, the late Lois Weigand Nalepa. He was the loving father of Deborah Frazier (Paul), Kim Morrison (Doug), Karen Wise (Bill) and Raymond Nalepa (Tammi). He is also survived by nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Ray was also preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Bader (Ronald); half sister, Judith Thomas; half brother, Henry Nalepa Jr.; and stepsister, Prescilla Marsilli.

NALEPA — Friends of Raymond H. Nalepa, who died Thursday, June 19, 2025, will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at SCHELLHAAS FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 5864 Heckert Road, Bakerstown, PA,

A blessing service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Private interment to follow in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to APDA, American Parkinson Disease Association or Parkinson Foundation of Western Pennsylvania.
