Mars eighth-graders receive American Legion Award
Two Mars eighth-graders received the American Legion Award, rewarded for traits like leadership and service, for the 2024-25 school year.
Kellan Garvin and Reese Vuckovich from Mars Area Middle School were selected from a group of 16 nominees to receive the annual award.
Students are nominated by their teachers for the recognition, while all eighth-graders vote for one boy and one girl from the list of nominees. The award is presented to eighth-graders who exhibit high standards of scholarship, leadership, patriotism, service, courage, honor and integrity.
Other nominees were Gianna Bartley, Colby Doner, Grant Dunn, Ella George, Madeline Gibson, Jackson Graham, Parker Joseph, Evan Lewis, Meredith Lindsay, Ainsley Martin, Ella Reilly, Andrew Sherwin, Allison Sottile and Thomas Wickland.
