Dollar General should fix its window
We should all be interested in how our Main Street looks, not only for ourselves but also for those just passing through. The Dollar General at 119 N. Main St. is not doing us any favors.
Several years ago, one of their plate glass windows was cracked. It was repaired with white duct tape running top to bottom. We looked at that repair for a very long time. Then, perhaps a year or so ago, that window was finally replaced. However it does not match the rest of the windows. The other windows are frosted perhaps ¾ of the way up, so you cannot see inside, with a horizontal yellow strip and “Dollar General” displayed. The replacement window is just clear glass. So a grayish tarp hangs over that new glass from the inside. I believe we will look at that forever.
For a company that just reported $10.44 billion in quarterly sales (“Dollar General posts record sales as bargain stores attract more people anxious about the economy,” June 4, Page 10) one would think they could afford to help us out, put in the correct piece of plate glass and improve both their, and our, image.
