Eleanor ‘Esty’ Soltesz

Soltesz

Eleanor Esther “Esty” Soltesz, 95, of Zelienople, passed away peacefully Monday, June 9, 2025, while under the compassionate care of Passavant Retirement Community.

Born on July 29, 1929, in West Mayfield, Esty was the youngest child of the late James and Mary Petralyk Soriano. She grew up surrounded by love, laughter and the close bonds of her siblings — a foundation that would shape the rest of her life.

Esty was a devoted and lifelong member of Divine Grace Parish, St. Gregory Church. Alongside her beloved husband, the late Joseph A. Soltesz, she was instrumental in helping launch local community fish fries, which brought food and fellowship to the community. She was also a proud member of the St. Anne’s Guild and formerly a part of the Hungarian Club Ladies’ Auxiliary.

A woman of many joys, Esty had a knack for making the most of life’s simple pleasures. She loved spending time at the casino, playing bingo and trying her luck with scratch-off tickets. She found peace in gardening, joy in bird-watching and purpose in her kitchen, especially when baking desserts for family and friends. Above all, she cherished her time with loved ones, building a home filled with warmth, laughter and plenty of sweets.

Esty leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. She is survived by her children, Lou Ann Soltesz of Zelienople and James J. (Stephanie) Soltesz of Zelienople; her grandchildren, Vanessa (Jason) Soltesz and Jonathon (Tiffany) Soltesz; and her great-grandchildren, Ariana and Carter Soltesz. Esty also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews and friends, all of whom carry fond memories of her loving hugs, wise words and welcoming spirit.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Joseph R. Soltesz; her brothers, Roger and Eugene Soriano; and her sister, Frances Philips.
