Jason McNorton
Jason “Jaybird” James McNorton passed away peacefully in his sleep Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2025, in Rockville Centre, N.Y.
He was a devoted brother, a true friend and a kindhearted soul who touched the lives of many with his warmth, humor and generosity.
Jason is survived by his beloved sisters, Tracey McNorton-Gunther (John) and Denise McNorton, with whom he shared an especially close and loving bond. He was preceded in death by his mother, Carole Ida Rellensmann; his stepfather, Darryl Brennan; and his father, Dennis Clyde McNorton.
He is also survived by his stepmother, Sharon McNorton; his half sister, Carrie S. (Michael) Hemmerlin, and their daughters, Michaella and Merynne Hemmerlin; as well as his half brother, Shawn (Susan) McNorton.
Born at the Rhode Island Navy base, Jason had a deep love for sports especially fishing, and he cherished Christmastime and traveling. Jason enjoyed working at F&B Printers in Island Park, N.Y. Despite the challenges he faced in life, he remained kind, thoughtful and hardworking, always giving selflessly to those around him.
Jason was laid to rest at Plains Church in Cranberry Township on June 8, 2025. His presence in the lives of those who knew him will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
In honor of Jason's life, donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation and the Long Island Coalition for the Homeless.
