Airman Ryan Geyer, a native of Gibsonia, is serving with the U.S. Navy assigned to Aviation Rescue Swimmer School where the next generation of rescue swimmers are trained.

Geyer, a 2020 graduate of Pine-Richland High School, enlisted in the Navy eight months ago.

“I felt a higher calling,” Geyer said. “The Navy lifestyle has always interested me.”

Today, he serves as a student rescue swimmer at the school.

“Completing rescue swimmer school will mean a lot to me,” Geyer said. “We work hard, but it will all be worth it when I graduate.”

Located at Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida, the school provides initial aviation water survival training and CPR qualification to all preflight student naval aviators and student naval flight officers, student flight surgeons, naval aircrew candidates, student aviators from other branches of the U.S. Armed Forces and international student aviators.
