Edith “Edie” Lynne Sutton, 76, of Butler, passed away Friday, June 6, 2025.

Born in Edgewood, Pa., Edie was a late bloomer in the legal field, earning her law degree from Duquesne University and building a career in family law. She was deeply committed to helping others, especially those who struggled to access legal support. Her work was driven by empathy and a fierce sense of justice.

Edie loved books, movies and good conversation. But more than anything, she loved her family. Time with her husband, Steve — whether traveling, watching a film or simply sharing a quiet moment — was her greatest joy. She was a devoted mother to Tyler and Emily; and a proud grandmother to Richard Masulis.

Edie is survived by her loving husband, Steve Sutton; her children, Tyler Sutton and Emily Sutton; and her grandson, Richard Masulis.

She was preceded in death by her mother, father, stepfather and brother.

A memorial service will be held at a later date, with details to be shared by the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to VNA Hospice in her honor.

She was a loving mother taken too soon — and she will be missed beyond words.
