Joseph Mahlon Porter Jr., 75, formerly of Evans City, passed away Sunday, April 20, 2025, in Newton, N.C.

Born Oct. 30, 1949, in Butler, he was the son of the late Joseph M. Porter Sr. and Rose Fiel Porter.

Joe was a 1967 graduate of Seneca Valley High School. He served proudly in the U.S. Navy on board the USS Oriskany during the Vietnam War. His citations include the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.

He was employed at the bulk mail center in Warrendale. Joe was a former member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Evans City. He enjoyed golf and was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates. Joe will be remembered for his good heart, his kindness and his gentlemanly nature. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends.

Joe leaves behind to cherish his memory his three sons, Joseph M. Porter III, Jason M. Porter and Jeremy C. Porter; his grandchildren; his great-grandchild; his three sisters, Jane Neigh of Butler, Sally Dickerson of Newton, N.C. and Nan Durny of Zelienople; his cousin, Arlene Logan of Fombell; and several beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Richard Dickerson and David L. Emerick.

PORTER — A graveside service with Navy honors for Joseph Mahlon Porter Jr., who died Sunday, April 20, 2025, was held Thursday, June 5, at Evans City Cemetery with Pastor Reid Moon officiating.

Arrangements have been entrusted to BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTER OF CONNOQUENESSING TOWNSHIP, 856 Evans City Road, Renfrew.
