Butler police have identified the two people found dead May 28 in what they confirm was a murder-suicide in a home in the 100 block of Cottage Hill Avenue.

Police said Alfredo Diaz, 66, killed Beth Broeren, also 66, and then himself.

Butler County Coroner William F. Young III also confirmed the situation was a murder-suicide. Broeren died by strangulation, while Diaz died by hanging, the coroner said.

Police visited the home in response to a welfare check. They said they have completed their investigation of the murder-suicide.
