Meet your Butler County Graduates
Hundreds of Butler County students are celebrating their graduations, turning their tassles toward the left and their eyes toward their new adventures ahead.
Butler County’s Class of 2025 features students from Butler Area, Seneca Valley, Slippery Rock Area, Mars, Moniteau, Knoch, Karns City Area, Allegheny-Clarion and Freeport high schools, plus a number of private schools within the county.
Others graduated in nearby schools: Grove City and Union.

The students participating in the commencement program are Zachary Slear, class president; Braden Bergbigler, class vice-president; Silvio Andreassi; Evelyn Paserba; Lauren Bayer, student council president; Alec Teff, valedictorian; Peyton Rockcastle; Laken Whisinnand, class secretary; and Evan Reinsel, class treasurer.

Seneca Valley Senior High School had its commencement ceremony at 6 p.m. Thursday at NexTier Stadium. The speakers were academic speakers Rohin C. Jayaraman and Addison A. McLane; speaker at-large Sydney J. Brower; and senior class president Lilliana M. Hudac.

As Seneca Valley’s class of 2025 walked down the ramp toward NexTier Stadium to where the commencement ceremony would be staged, they headed away from the senior high school and into the future.

Slippery Rock Area High School will have its commencement ceremony at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 5, in the Morrow Field House at Slippery Rock University.

150 seniors from Slippery Rock Area High School blasted off into the next stage of life after their high school graduation on Thursday, June 5.
The floor of Morrow Field House on the Slippery Rock University campus was filled with a stream of red gowns as family and friends applauded from the stands on each side as the band performed “Pomp and Circumstance.”

Mars senior gets appointment to Merchant Marine Academy
Dylan Weitzell, a senior at Mars Area High School, received an appointment to the Merchant Marine Academy, one of only five United States service academies.
According to a Mars news release, Weitzell received a nomination from Sen. John Fetterman, D-PA, and Rep. Mike Kelly, R-16.

Moniteau Jr./Sr. High School graduated approximately 65 students on Tuesday, June 3. The commencement ceremony was at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium. A baccalaureate service took place at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the high school auditorium.

The speakers were the school’s top three in the class: Alexander Kleist, Kevin Justi and Lindsay Mack.

Knoch High School’s commencement ceremony took place at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 29, at Knoch High School’s football stadium.
– 2 graduating seniors’ post-graduation plans defy expectations
After being one of the top three academic achievers at Knoch High School, being named prom king and being accepted into all of the colleges he applied to, graduating senior Kevin Justi’s enlistment into the U.S. Air Force wasn’t exactly what his peers expected.
To him and some of his family, however, the decision isn’t a total zag — Kevin’s older brother is in the Marines, and the Air Force offers opportunities to put a lot of his educational background into action. So despite not being involved in any military organizations while in school, Kevin said he is looking forward to diving in over the coming summer.

A group of 106 students who’d put in four years of hard work for their big day were faced with the prospect of having to wait one more day for their name to be called.
Ultimately, despite a fierce thunderstorm Thursday night, June 5, the weather held off for just long enough for a commencement ceremony to be held at Karns City Area Jr./Sr. High School’s Diehl Stadium.

Allegheny-Clarion Valley Junior/Senior High School graduation was at 7 p.m. May 28 at the school’s campus. The welcome address was given by the salutatorian Alivya Ann Hartzell, and the valedictorian address by valedictorian Cora Elizabeth Weigle. The acceptance was also given by Cora, who was class president.
