Butler man and former health aide charged after reportedly burglarizing deceased patient’s home

A Butler man and a woman who worked as a health aide were charged with burglary after reportedly stealing from a deceased patient’s home.

Karl R. Warren Jr., 35, and Janautica S. Revis, 26, were both charged with one felony count each of burglary and criminal conspiracy, and misdemeanor theft following the May 30 incident on West Brady Street.

Warren was additionally charged with two misdemeanor counts of simple assault.

Police said they were dispatched for a report of two women fighting in the street and arrived find both women throwing punches. They detained the two women spoke with a woman who was in the house during the incident.

The woman identified Revis as a former aide for a deceased patient previously living in the home. She told police Revis and Warren had come to the residence on multiple occasions to steal, and Revis still had a key.

The woman told police she was in the home when Revis and Warren arrived, and the woman positioned herself and her cane in front of the door to block the two from entering.

Police said when the door would not open, Warren lowered his shoulder and struck the door twice causing it to break off its hinges.

Police said the woman fell on the floor after the impact causing injury to her back. She said Revis and Warren entered the residence and began taking items when the woman’s sister arrived and got into an altercation with Revis.

Police said Warren jumped into the altercation and kicked the woman in the face while her and Revis were on the ground.

Revis’ and Warren’s preliminary hearings are scheduled for 11 a.m. June 23 before District Judge William Fullerton.
