Beverly Jean Garner Benz, 84, of Winter Haven, Fla., died at the Winter Haven Hospital after a prolonged illness on Thursday, May 29, 2025.

She was born in Parker’s Landing, Pa., in 1940, to the late Claude and Marie Sedwick Garner.

She was a lifelong member of the Church of God of Prophecy (COGOP) and was affiliated with the Winter Haven Church of God in Winter Haven, Fla. Beverly graduated from Moniteau High School in 1958. She worked several jobs, including retail at GC Murphy’s 5 and 10, babysitting, being a home health aide, and factory work, before she began her lifelong work as a traveling evangelist for COGOP. Beverly loved collecting dolls. Her house was filled with her collection.

She married Gustov Benz on May 23, 1984, who preceded her in death.

She is survived by her stepson, Charles (Nancy) Jennings of Butler; her sister, Lynda C. Garner Brown of Lewisburg, Tenn.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Hazel and Wilbert Thompson; and brother-in-law, Thomas M. Brown.

BENZ — Visitation for Beverly Jean Garner Benz, who died Thursday, May 29, 2025, will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, June 7, at the Church of God of Prophecy in Six Points (121 Mckees Road, Parker). The funeral will follow immediately at 11 a.m., with the Rev. David Talkington officiating.

Interment will follow at the Eau Claire Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to H. JACK BUZARD FUNERAL HOME, Eau Claire.
