Benson

Donald R. Benson, 83, of Petrolia, passed away Sunday, June 1, 2025, while under the care of Concordia at Cabot.

Born May 19, 1942, in Chicora, he was a son of the late J. Clyde Benson and Gertrude Solida Benson.

Don was retired from PennDOT, where he was employed for 21 years. He previously worked for 20 years at Pullman Standard.

He was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish, St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church, and he belonged to the Chicora Moose.

He loved country music, playing guitars and traveling.

He is survived by one sister, Alberta Dunn, of Chicora; two nieces to whom he was especially close, Andrea Young and Kelly Dunn; and a number of other nieces and nephews.

Don was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Yvonne M. Toth Benson, whom he married Jan. 4, 1964, and who passed away March 18, 2022; one sister, Shirley Lucas; and one brother, Leo “Lee” Benson.

BENSON — There will be no visitation, and all services will be private for Donald R. Benson, who died Sunday, June 1, 2025.
