Police: Butler man yelled at neighbors, carried hammer in dispute

A Butler man yelled at neighbors over a parking spot while armed with a hammer, according to police.

Erik S. Cupps, 36, was charged with one misdemeanor count each of terroristic threats, simple assault and resisting arrest following an alleged incident Friday on Wilkins Avenue.

Police said Cupps blocked a neighbor’s driveway with his vehicles after a disagreement over property lines. Police said neighbors indicated Cupps was yelling and armed with a hammer.

Police apprehended Cupps after he refused to provide his information three times and pulled away from officers.

Cupps is being held in Butler County Prison on a $10,000 bond. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:45 a.m. Monday before District Judge William Fullerton.
