Haine Middle School sixth-grader wins poster contest
Brooklyn McCollough, a sixth-grade student at Haine Middle School, won first place in the Cranberry Township Area Lions Club’s International Peace Poster Contest.
For her poster, Brooklyn received a plaque from the Lions Club, along with a $50 Barnes & Noble gift card and a $100 cash prize.
“I got inspired by my art teacher, Mrs. Burnett, to enter the contest,” Brooklyn said. “I really thought I could have a chance at winning; and since I love art, I wanted to try. When my mom told me I got the email that I won … I couldn’t believe I won.”
The Lions Club honored Brooklyn May 13 at an awards ceremony, where she was celebrated alongside her family, her art teacher and Haine Middle School principal Erin Wilcher.
