Slippery Rock man charged with more than 200 counts of child pornography
A Slippery Rock man has been charged with more than 200 counts of child pornography Wednesday, May 28.
Aaron Michael Joyce, 50, was charged with 200 counts of child pornography possession, five counts of disseminating photos of child sex acts and two counts of criminal communication device use, according to a criminal complaint filed by the Pennsylvania State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigations before District Judge Joseph Nash.
Police said they received three tips from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and National Center for Missing and Exploited Children indicating child pornography had been distributed through private messaging on the communication app Kik.
Kik provided police with information for 48 files containing suspected child pornography sent between Aug. 6 and 8. Police determined another tip also was also connected to the case where eight child pornography files were uploaded to a user’s Snapchat account Dec. 4.
Police allege Joyce used Motorola Moto G and BLU smartphones to access the accounts with child pornography.
Police interviewed Joyce on May 16 when they conducted search warrants on two locations associated with him. Police said Joyce denied using any social media and a second cellphone.
Police said Motorola and BLU charging devices were found where Joyce had access.
Joyce’s preliminary hearing is pending.
